My husband has an enlarged thyroid and symptoms of hypothyroidism. What can I expect from his next appointment?
He is having an ultrasound this week to see why his thyroid is enlarged. He had a ton of labwork done last week 7 vials of blood , we're still waiting for the results. I don't want him to worry and I just keep brushing it off saying he shouldn't worry, that it is all no big deal.... but inside I'm worried ' What kinds of things can we expect to hear at his follow up appointment after the ultrasound? I'm so worried about my love... I'm sure he'll be ok, but my heart is aching for him Guih, I think you have hypo and hyperthyroidism confused. He is displaying symptoms of hypothyroidism.

My husband has an enlarged thyroid and doc wants to remove it completely. Has anyone experienced this before?
My husband has an enlarged thyroid and his endocrinologist would like for it to be removed completely or partially. The biopsy was indeterminate, but all blood work, etc. are fine and my husband has feeling well, just trouble sleeping. I wanted to get some advice regarding this. My husband does not want to have surgery for a thyroid that is larger than normal for a young healthy male. He does not want to get on thyroid meds for life just for an enlarged thyroid that may or may not have something wrong with it. Thanks for your advice.
Will people with enlarged thyroids always be overweight?
I have hypothyroidism for those that don't know what that is, it's an abnormally low activity of the thyroid gland . I've always been chunky my whole life, and I just want to know if it's always going to be like that. I'm 15, and i was just recently put on medication for it, but it's still really hard for me to lose weight. I'm eating right and I'm active enough and everything, so i don't know. I don't want to be fat for the rest of my life. Please don't advertise any of those silly diet plans pills. I don't need to go on a diet, I just need an educated answer to my question. Thanks.
My 11 year old enlarged thyroid, constant sore throat and sore stomach feeling ill for a year now?
My 11 year old son starting complaining of feeling ill last April and his throat being sore. He complained that he was dizzy all the time and some times could not even walk. I took him to his pediatrician and he said his thyroid is enlarged and sent him for bloodwork and ultrasound. All came back normal.......................but 1 year later he is still having this pain and it has seem to get worse. His father was killed by a drunk driver on July 1st lastyear and im sure this doesnt help the matter but he is suffering from depression and anxiety really bad as well. He was in great health before this but now this past year has been the worse for my young man. He has recently developed brething problems as well and once again his pediatrician has no idea what is going on. He has refered him to a ENT but its months away and were so desperate at this time??? Any idea as to what may be going on or what he may have? Thank you all in advance
How would you diagnose swollen lymph nodes and an enlarged thyroid?
About a month ago I noticed lumps along my throat. There were some under my jaw line and a few others under my adam's apple. They got progressively bigger and more visible, but were never very sore. Yesterday, the entire base of my throat swelled up, my voice became horse and it was difficult to swallow. Today it's still pretty puffy but the pain is not as severe. I also noticed two small, hard lumps under my arms. They're about the size of a pea and extremely sore to touch. Are the thyroid and lymph nodes related? What would you diagnose this?
I have an enlarged thyroid, name 2 conditions I may have?
oh, sorry if you got the wrong idea, but this is word for word a health question I have to answer
Can the CVS minute clinic treat enlarged thyroids?
I went to the ER for a different, unrelated issue a few weeks ago, and the doctor told me that my thyroid is slightly enlarged and that I should get it checked out. I have tightness in my throat and often feel like I'm going to throw up, have extreme nausea, but don't ever actually puke. I've felt like this for years. I don't have the money to go to a regular doctor, so I was wondering if the CVS minute clinic or the Walgreens one could do anything for this?thanks
What can cause a swollen or enlarged thyroid?
What might be the cause of enlarged thyroid?
During a routine checkup my doctor noticed that one side of my thyroid is slightly larger than the other side. He sent me to the hospital to have an echo done. I'll get the results next week but I'm just curious.Because my mother has a history of thyroid problems NOT cancer, but she did have to have 3 4 of her thyroid removed surgically I have had my thyroid levels checked once a year via blood tests, and the results were always good, so this came as a bit of a shock to me. I asked my doctor whether partially enlarged thyroid was a bad thing, but he's insists on waiting until he gets the results from the echo before saying anything further. My thyroid isn't visible swollen, nor have I experienced any recent unusual symptoms. I'm 24 years old.Is it possible that one half of my thyroid is simply bigger than the other, with no further health issues? Or is the fact that it is enlarged a definite sign that something is wrong?
What are causes of an enlarged thyroid?
I went to the doctors today and she said I have an enlarged tryroid and booked me an ultrasound in a few weeks. She also booked an echocardiogram because she heard a heart murmur.. Could they also be related somehow? And what are problems disease an enlarged thyroid causes or is from?
Enlarged thyroid, not hypothyroidism?
Recently I was told I have an enlarged thyroid. She felt my neck and stated that it was " very diffuse" and repeatedly asked if I was having trouble swallowing because of it. She said that she didn't feel any lumps or nodules. Since I have a family history of hypothyroidism, she did some testing to see if I had it and the test came back negative. Now I have to go to the hospital to get an ultrasound on it. I don't know when that will be yet. So far I don't think that I really have any symptoms my appointment that it was detected in was for something completely different of anything being wrong. The only thing I can think of is bruising. I got the blood drawn on Friday and there's still a bruise on my arm that's about 1.5X2 inches. I've donated blood before and I don't remember getting that big a bruise from that, so I don't know if the bruise from this would be considered " outside of normal" or not.Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone with medical training knows if this sounds like something is really wrong. I had a friend go through this same thing a few years ago and ended up being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, so I'm worried to say the least. Basically, I just really want to know what other possibilities there are.The only blood testing they did was TSH testing for hypothyroidism. It's possible for TSH testing to be negative for hypothyroidism but there to still be a problem. April, you obviously don't have " medical intelligence." If you did, you would know that having normal TSH levels doesn't mean that everything is fine. Once again, I had a friend that had thyroid cancer and...guess what, she had normal TSH levels. Her experience started off the same way mine did. A blood test then on to an ultrasound.I asked for people with medical TRAINING, not simply an encounter with the medical system. If I wanted that, I would be asking the person that I know who had a problem with the organ that I'm concerned about.April, this will be the last thing I say to you. Your doctor apparently has a cause for your enlarged thyroid radiation treatment. I don't have something like that to account for it. Therefore, it is important to figure out what is causing it. Body parts don't normally just become enlarged for no reason at all. Regardless of the malignancy of the cause, there is some reason that my thyroid is enlarged and my question was looking for ideas as to what that cause may be. Your answer did not adequately address the question.
