How to treat hypothyroidism?
I am already on 75 mcg of synthorid but my TSH is still at 11. As you can see I am trying for my first child and I more than likely won't get pregnant until my levels are down to about 1. I do take a prenatal daily.I was thinking about picking up some sea help pills or iodine supplements? Any advice will be great. Thank you

Was the doctor wrong about my hypothyroidism test?
Hi So a while back, I got a thyroid test, which said that my thyroid was functioning properly. However, I really think the results were wrong. These are my reasons 1. I eat a maximum of 1200 calories a day yes I do count and do a vigorous 2 hour workout 5 days a week. I still managed to gain a pound a month consistently for the past 3 years tho.2. I am always really tired and exhausted. I get out of bed and I am already tired.3. My hair is really dry and so is my skin. I have kinda bad acne on my face as well. My hair started to fall out, but I think this might also be due to stress.4. My family has a history of hypothyroidism. My mom has it, her mom had it, my dad has it, his mom has it, and his dad has it. Those are just the ones I know off the top of my head but there are more.SO, did the doctor mess up? Also, I had eaten a few hours before the test, so does that effect the outcome? Maybe I had more thyroid hormone in my bloodstream because I had just eaten? i don't know. Also, is there any other possible reason I don't lose weight, just gain? As i said before, I only eat 800 1200 calories a day and exercise 2 miles of swimming plus running plus push ups sit ups for 2 3 hours a day it varies, but i said only 2 hours before because most days I only go for that long. the only thing i like to drink is water and I do not like to eat a lot. when i eat a lot it makes me sick. I like fruit more than dessert, i no it is kinda weird.I forgot to mention this, I am 15, 5 foot 5 and 155 pounds, so i am overweight.Thank you to anyone who replies

So my thyroid levels came back high suggesting hypothyroidism but my antibodies test came back negative.?
My doctor says that its not a normal result and is sending me for more tests including a thyroid sonogram. She didn't explain or indicate what any of this meant and I am confused because I was expecting a clear hypothyroid result since it runs in my family. Does anyone know what other likely possibilities could be?
What type of multi-vitamin should I take for hypothyroidism?
2 years ago I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. I underwent Radioactive Iodine treatment which unfortunately nearly killed off all of my thyroid. I now take Levothyroxine but unfortunately like most with my condition the tablets do not solve the horrific tiredness I can get. I have been doing research into ways I can boost my energy levels. The most obvious is exercise and a decent diet of which I am working on, but I did read somewhere that taking a really strong multivitamin as well as Cod liver oil may help. According to the research your everyday conveyor belt multivitamins are no where near strong enough for a person with hypothyroidism, and wont really help the tiredness issue so I want to know if there are any really good multivitamin brands out there that I can use, that arent things like Centrum Seven Seas etc?
Has anyone with congenital hypothyroidism taken the Thyroid shot?

I suffer from hypothyroidism and I have terrible anxiety.. (10 pts)?
Anxiety about possibly developing bipolar. It's constantly on my mind. 24 7. I analyze every mood I'm in and I can easily freak myself out. It's driving me nuts. Do I sound like I could ever become Bipolar? I'm an 18 year old male, big runner, and my mother had bipolar so i suppose this is why i'm so fearful. I fear going manic and throwing away everything I've become.. I've been on synthroid for almost a month. When will I start to feel better? Thanks everyone
How bad did you feel with hypothyroidism?
I am a 50 yr old male and was diagnosed as having " severe fibromyalgia." It's not the correct diagnosis. The MDs missed it, and I've been suffering a long time. How they missed it for so long is beyond me. I am waiting for treatment now for hypothyroidism. My basal body temp is 96 97 degrees with a myriad of other symptoms including severe pain. I feel absolutely horrible and suffer chronic severe exhaustion as well. It is genuine misery, and I can't even remember feeling normal much less good. I've been unable to enjoy anything at all. How bad have you others with hypothyroidism felt? Mine feels like a constant and never ending severe flu. And how improved are you after correct treatment? Many thanks.

Fighting the symptoms of hypothyroidism (post-thyroidectomy)?
I'm 21, and was diagnosed with papillary carcinoma thyroid cancer in December. Had surgery three days before Christmas, and was in the hospital for nearly a week due to my wacky calcium levels and the fact that my surgery ended up being more extensive than they had planned they removed my entire thyroid, all the lymph nodes in my neck, and a small tumor as planned, but had to go in a bit more to remove some cancer tissue that was lower into my chest and took part of my shoulder muscle out which was being attacked . WHEW. Glad that part is over with, right? So now I am in between post op appointments and checkups for my calcium and magnesium and TSH levels and whatnot, so I have a couple of weeks more to go before I can start the radioactive iodine treatment to rid my body of the remaining thyroid cells cancer , and only after that can I start taking TSH replacement hormones for my now absent thyroid. The problem my body is kicking into hypothyroid mode and, unlike in the couple of weeks after my surgery, I am really starting to feel it now. My energy levels have plummeted, I'm cold all of the time, gaining weight, feel foggy and moody and even sometimes erratic in my behavior. My muscles are sore as well, mainly in the shoulder neck area where my surgery was located, and I've been having crazy dreams like you cannot imagine. My general doctor told me last week that this is normal and that I'm going to sort of " wilt" as my body is deprived of these TSH hormones. I'm a college student and work part time at a restaurant, and was in the process of transferring schools in the winter but called the school term off when all of this came up, so now I'm just working several days a week and trying to focus on dealing with this. My question I guess is, is there any way to fight these symptoms? I know I'll have to wait it out, so to speak, but coffee does little for me I typically count on it as my godsend and I'm trying to find alternative ways to rejuvenate myself but it's not working. It seems no matter how much I rest, I'm constantly at the same low key energy level. Some people have said exercise helped them, but I can't even imagine doing anything close to that right now. Going for a brisk walk in my current state seems almost life threatening Hahaha. But, yeah. Anyone who's experienced this, did you find anything to be helpful? My next post op appointment is in a week and after that the ball should start rolling, but in the meantime, dealing with my job alone is enough to drain me fast. Is there anything I can do that could help perk me up, even in the slightest?
Can hypothyroidism cause a swollen lymph node in dogs?
I am awaiting the result of my dogs blood test to see if he has hypothyroidism. He also has a swollen lymph node which the test results will take longer to receive. He doesn't think it's cancer because he's young and still eats and is happy. My question is does anyone know if hypothyroidism will cause a swollen lymph node.
