I have a family history of thyroid disorders. My mom had thyroid cancer and my father had hyperthyroid. I had a goiter 3 years ago. It was drained and turned to be benign. My recent blood work indicated that my thyroid is functioning normally. However, I have been feeling a bit sluggish and have put on over 10 pounds in the last 5 months without changing my eating habits at all.Any advice is appreciated

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 3 months ago after going to my OB GYN and expressing my desire to get pregnant and the fact that I had a previous miscarriage about 2 years ago. She tested my thyroid and sent me to a reproductive endocrinologist, who read my test results and said they indicated hypothyroidism, and put me on Levothyroxine. My question is if anyone has had experience with both synthetic and natural thyroid medications and if one is better than the other. Since I have been taking the new meds, my TSH levels are in the normal range, but i'm wondering if I can do better with natural therapies.Thanks for any advice

My age is 56 and as I get older, I notice I have cold, clammy skin and can't seem to stay warm. In summer, I always have to have the temp at 70 or below with air movement to be comfortable. My body temp. is always at 97 or 97.1 for a normal temp. Would appreciate any input from experience in this area.

I am 20 years old and have mild hypothyroidism. I am not keen on medication, but it's gotten to the point where it is affecting my health. I don't want to be on medication for life synthroid, levo ect . I was browsing at the health store and came accross a " raw thyroid" from bovine. I kind of want to try this, but can you get on and off it or have to stay on it once you are on?
