What's worse an IV or a needle thyroid biopsy?
IV vs. thyroid biopsy. Please only answers from people who have had both

Just had a thyroid biopsy about 3 weeks ago and still have not gotten my voice back to normal...how long?

Why did my doctor not do a thyroid biopsy as part of my initial assessment for my nodule?
it's 2.0cm in size hardish somewhat movable hasn't grown in over 4 5 years im 20 years old female my granma had a thyroid nodule i have heart palpitations my blood tests came out fine ive had three ultrasounds the doctors dont seem worried at allcomplex cystic mass and there's a possible 9mm solid one next to it right side

Looking for someone who has had a thyroid biopsy!?
I am having a thyroid biopsy done. In February I had some small growths, now, large masses. They are doing several biopsies in August. I want to know what to expect. How painful is it? Can I go back to work right afterwards? I have pressure on my throat now and lose my voice. Will that get worse immediately after biopsy?

Has anyone had personal experience with a thyroid biopsy?
My doctor found some nodules and wants to do a biopsy and I'm wondering how much it hurts.

Has anyone had a thyroid biopsy?Would you recommend the local anesthesia?going tomorrow..what should I expect?

Ibprofen before a thyroid biopsy?
I recently had an ultrasound done on my thyroid and they found a very large nodule on the left side. I now have to go to a Eye Nose Throat Specialist for a consult and possible biopsy. I am scared to death of getting this biopsy, not for what it might result, just the fact of a needle getting put into my neck But it is very likely they will do it because of the size of the nodule. which I sorta think is dumb anyway since they are probably remove my thyroid anyway even if its not cancer just because of the mere size of the nodule..which is basically the whole half of the thyroid .Anyway, the nurse told me I can't take any Ibprofen, Aleve, or aspirin for a WEEK prior. I advised her that could be a problem as I have iliosacral dysfunction which is a lower back joint that sometimes gets " stuck" . When it gets " stuck" it is extremely debilitating since the sciatic nerve runs right next to it. I have to take an anti inflammatory to keep inflamation down which helps to prevent it from getting " stuck" . On a good day I take about 800 mg Ibprofen. On a bad day I could end up taking 400 mg Ibprofen every 2 hours and also Cyclobenzaprine a muscle relaxant every 4 hours. Good thing is, bad days haven't been happening much since my diagnosis and taking the Ibprofen daily. So now, I asked the nurse if I could at least take the Cyclobenzaprine since it would be very likely I would need it if I can't take the Ibprofen. She said she would have to check with the doctor since she didn't know what that was...that kinda concerned me, but I'm ok if she has to check with the doctor. She told me I could take Tylenol. The problem there is Tylenol is NOT an anti inflammatory and if my back acts up I would kill my liver taking Tylenol trying to manage at least SOME of the pain. I am now playing phone tag with the doctors office and am getting frustrated because this nurse is starting to sound like shes incompetent and I can't seem to be able to just talk to the doctor directly. Now, I know Ibprofen is not a long lasting drug and its half life is only 2 hours. So really, if I take lets say 800 mg there would be less than 1mg in my system in 20 hours which is basically nothing as you need at least 100 mg to feel any effects . Even the FDA drug info says ibprofen is virtually out of your system within 24 hours at an 800mg dosage, unless you have liver or kidney problems that could interfer with the rate, which I don't have any of those problems.So....technically I'm thinking I just shouldn't take it for a day before the procedure. Now THAT I could probably handle as it is less time for my back to get inflamed and act up. But a whole week is just very unlikely. The reason she gave for not being able to take the Ibprofen, Aleve, or aspirin is because of the blood thinning properties these drug have and if their in my system I could get bleeding or bruising. Honestly, if THATS the only reason....I would be more than willing to have that than have my back go " out" . I can handle a bruise and I'm sure I wouldn't bleed to death Anyway, since I'm having trouble being able to talk to the doctor directly I'm looking for other opinions. Any advise is awesome. Thank you so much
